Election Argument

WALT: Write an effective argument for our chosen political party.

YOU SHOULD NOT VOTE FOR NATIONAL
Personally I believe that Labour is the best party to vote for, because they are doing the best they can for New Zealand. They are planning to save the trans, make sure everyone's safe by increasing police officers by 1,000 and help people with babies and toddlers. Ensure access to justice for trans people

Ensure access to justice for trans people
Everyone should have the same basic rights regardless if you are transgender or not. Transgender people are still humans and should be treated the same as others. At the moment transgender people aren't treated fairly in the criminal justice system. Increase police officers by 1,000 over three years

Increase police officers by 1,000 over three years. Increasing the number of police officers should bring crime under control. Having less crime will make New Zealand a better place. It will all so create more jobs for people. Pay $60 per week to families with babies and toddlers.

Pay $60 per week to families with babies and toddlers. It enables all children to have the best possible start at life because it can sometimes be very hard for the families in child's early years. It gives the family with young children financial security. It enables the children to have a good start to life with the essentials they need.

I strongly believe that the worst policy National has to offer is Tighten freedom camping rules and increase funding for tourism infrastructure. National thinks that if we tighten freedom to camping rules then people won’t stay long camping and will respect the area more. They also think that tourism is hugely important to the economy. I think that one of the many reasons this is a bad policy is because people should be able to go where ever they want when they’re freedom camping. Instead of restricting the areas so people will respect it they should just tell them and if they don’t just trespass them cause other people shouldn’t suffer from others consequences. I believe with the tourism National shouldn’t fund it because it's a waste of money, tourist should just stop because if they were put in our shoes they would understand. Now to the conclusion

Now I have stated to you why you should vote for Labour. By far in my opinion Labours the best party because they are gonna try there hardest to protect people so they can be who they wanna be and help people.
The points I have stated are the Labour policies such as Ensure access to justice for trans people, Increase police officers by 1,000 over three years, Pay $60 per week to families with babies and toddlers.
By now you know what party I’m clearly going to vote for.

My next steps are: To ass more detail to my reasons why they should win (Agreement)

Multiplicative Strategies

Use a range of multiplicative strategies when operating on whole numbers

I can apply the strategy to problem solving questions

The escape

A prisoner sits in his cell planning his escape. The prisoner is kept in by 5 laser beams, which operate along a corridor. Each laser is switched off at a specific time interval for just long enough to allow a person to walk through. The time between being switched off for each laser is shown below:

  • Laser One = every 3 minutes
  • Laser Two = every 2 minutes
  • Laser Three = every 5 minutes
  • Laser Four = every 4 minutes
  • Laser Five = every 1 minutes

The guard patrols and checks the prisoner each time all the laser beams are off simultaneously. Because each laser only switches off for a short time the prisoner knows he can only get past one laser at a time. He has to get past the five lasers from 1 to 5 in order. Laser One is at the entrance of the prisoner’s cell and laser Five is at the door to the outside. He also knows that if he spends longer than 4 minutes 12 seconds in the corridor an alarm will go off.

Can the prisoner escape without the alarm in the corridor going off?
Yes

If he can escape, how many minutes should he wait before passing Laser One?
3 minutes

How much time will he have after passing Laser Five before the guard raises the alarm? 21 minutes

Current Events Term 2, 2017

WALT: I can successfully research a current event.
Here is a link to our online modelling book for this unit of learning.

The National Standard that I have been aiming for during this unit of learning is:

  • Year 7/8: I can use appropriate skills and technologies to find and use a range of texts for specific purposes.

Each week we have read a short text about a current event/ topic. We then formed questions based on what we had read.  After this we researched the answers to our questions and finally we gave our opinions on what we had found out.

Here is some evidence of my learning.

My Next Step is to continue to  apply the reading and  research skills that I have learned in a variety of other areas.
